Befriending
Eastwood Two’s Company is a befriending service aimed at older adults who find themselves requiring some extra friendship and support, and this is provided through weekly telephone calls. Volunteers are matched with those who are referred to the service and all volunteers are carefully selected, trained and vetted.
The main criteria is for there to be clear evidence of social isolation and that the service is being requested by the person concerned. Unfortunately, visits cannot be arranged for those where there is a diagnosis of advanced dementia or certain mental health conditions. The service is available to older adults living within Eastwood.
For further information please see Linking Lives Project Eastwood
Befriending Scheme at Eastwood Volunteer Bureau is a visiting service offering company and conversation regularly (weekly or fortnightly) for local people who may be elderly and/or housebound, without family or friends to visit them.
Volunteers are introduced to the person, with the aim of matching interests and personalities.
