The contraceptive injection (Depo-Provera & Sayana Press) releases the hormone progestogen into your bloodstream to prevent pregnancy
Depo-Provera lasts for 13 weeks, sayana Press also lasts for 13 weeks and is a newer type of injection.
Eastwood Primary Care Centre will be prescribing the Sayana Press injection for patients and the practice nurse team will give instructions and training to patients at the surgery in clinic by appointment, so that patients will be able to self-administer this injection in the future at home.
